"A UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter was smoked in central Iraq at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday," U.S. Central Command said in a statement.
there were 7 people on board, All dead. CNN quoted Pentagon officials as saying seven soldiers were killed and four others were wounded after their helicopter was shot down by a hailstorm of small-arms fire.
Karbala, some 50 miles away from Baghdad, has been the scene of fierce fighting between the U.S. Fifth Corps and the Iraqis.

CNN is investigating about the coalition aircraft bombing a maternity hospital and another market in Baghdad. The market was a direct hit with over 100 dead women and kids.
On the humanitarian front, UNICEF warned that bright yellow-wrapped coalition Humanitarian Daily Rations hand-distributed in Iraq might be mixed with the bomblets from the BLU-97 cluster bomb, just to keep the children on there toes. U.S. officials have said they are changing the color of the Cluster bomblets to that of the MREs to keep every body guessing.
Cluster bomblets were used Wednesday against a mosque. HRW said twenty U.S. Marines died on March 27 and 28 when they stepped on unexploded cluster bomblets delivered by U.S. artillery in southern Iraq.
