STUDENTS FOR A DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY!
A student movement is desperately needed to carry on the struggle for participatory democracy! At its peak in 1968, SDS had over 100,000 members -- including an active chapter here in Urbana-Champaign -- working toward peace, economic justice, racial equality, and democracy in every aspect of everyday life. Now, against the backdrop of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the profound corruption of the Bush Administration, we are rekindling the nationwide spirit of nonviolent student activism that helped bring down Nixon and end the war in Vietnam.
Whether you’re a student, a community activist, or someone who’s entirely fed up, we need your help! Let’s get rolling with a HUGE nonviolent campus action this Spring – proposals will be discussed at the Info/Planning Meeting.
Info/Planning Meeting: Wed., 2/22/06, 8pm,
University YMCA, 2nd floor Board Room
