Since the government does not keep good records on the number of killings of civilians by police on a national basis, among other forms of repressive police behavior, the need for this new IMC is great |
The San Francisco IMC has launched a new IMC dedicated to coverage of police misbehavior and lack of accountability, along with coverage of the ever-expanding prison-industrial complex, together which constitute the only ongoing job expansion program that the government finances today.
Between the repressive actions by police designed to keep workers and communities subservient to corporate power and the wage-depressing nature of prisoners forced to work at ridiculously low wages that further depresses the wages of those workers not in prison, this double whammy of naked abuse of power is anti-democratic and subversive to the Constitution, whose Fourth Amendment protections against illegal search and seizure has been all but revoked by the Rehnquist Supreme Court.
On this new IMC, you'll find stories from all over the US, making clear that police brutality is more of an epidemic than it is a case of isolated instances of individual cops exceeding their authority under the present system which has no independent civilian oversight in most jurisdictions. |
