Mark Weisbrot recently returned from a trip to Venezuela and will offer his view on the situation there this Wednesday evening at 6:30pm at Noyes Lab on the University of Illinois campus.
Mark Weisbrot received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan, with specialization in international economics and political economy. He was a consultant to the government of Haiti in 1995-96. He is co-author, with Dean Baker, of "The Scorecard on Globalization: Twenty Years of Diminished Progress" and Social Security: The Phony Crisis (University of Chicago Press, 2000).
He is currently Co-Director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research, in Washington, D.C. He writes a weekly column on economic and policy issues that is distributed to over 400 newspapers by Knight-Ridder/Tribune Media Services.
Mark’s opinion pieces appear here regularly on the UC IMC website, including his most recent column, http://www.ucimc.org/newswire/display/9606/index.php. His columns also are regularly carried by the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Boston Globe, and The Chicago Tribune, among others. He has appeared on CNN, ABC World News Tonight, C-SPAN Washington Journal, Fox News, and many other national and local television and radio programs.
