Last week's vote on removing anti-environmental riders from the federal budget betrays Johnson's environmental core. |
US Rep Tim Johnson voted with 225 others to defeat an effort to remove anti-environmental legislation from the FY03 federal budget, just approved last week (4 months late).
Johnson voted:
* against allowing citizens file lawsuits to protect the Tongass National Forest in Alaska
* for providing support of oil and gas drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
* for expanding commercial logging in national forests
Last year, Johnson received wide praise for a vote against drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Last week's vote went virtually unmentioned. |
