This week's show features stories from China Radio International, Radio Netherlands, Radio Havana Cuba, and the Voice of Russia.
From CHINA- A report on the just concluded round of the 6-party talks on N Korea's nuclear development- the N Koreans want a light-water nuclear power plant to be supplied by the US in exchange for abandoning their nuclear program- the Chinese government sees this round as a short-term success. Iran continued its tough stance on nuclear development if they become the subject of a UN resolution- the EU has backed down from its threats at this time.
From NETHERLANDS- The US is funding the Colombian government to increase spraying herbicides on national parklands to eradicate coca production- there is much opposition to the toxic plans, which has never really diminished coca production in the past. A press review on the British storming of a prison in Iraq to release 2 of their soldiers being held by their allies. Then further information on the British jail break, which has destroyed the trust between Iraqi police and citizens with their British partners- what the British soldiers were doing undercover will be quite a scandal.
From CUBA- Iraqi citizens and police took to the streets to protest the presence of British troops occupying their country after the spectacular and deadly jail break in Basra. Iraqi authorities are preparing an arrest warrant for the former defense minister in connection with missing one billion dollars from the Ministry's coffers.
From RUSSIA- A commentary on the results of the US invasion of Iraq, pointing out that the US administration continues to stress that the so-called "democratization" of the country is a success- Dick Cheney recently stated that the Iraqi resistance is on its "last gasp," while many see the country on the brink of a total civil war.
      All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
