Meeting to begin planning for this year's Take Back the Night March in Champaign-Urbana |
The Women's Direct Action Collective is asking other groups whose missions are in keeping with ours and any interested individuals to help plan this year's Take Back the Night March. We're starting things off with a pre-planning informational meeting.
Take Back the Night is an annual march and rally to protest systemic violence against women. It is one of the events organized during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In keeping with its vision of women acting symbolically to "take back the night" on our own in solidarity and safety, the march is women-only.
This informational meeting and Take Back the Night coordinating meetings will be open to all women and transgendered persons. We will encourage male involvement and participation in some important aspects of the planning process and the event itself, from publicity and fundraising to the rally and the separate male events during the march.
