In a manner similar to that of Padilla and Hamdi, Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri was abducted on the eve of his trial and by orders of George W. Bush, declared an enemy combatant, and had him thrown in the brig. (standing precedent does not allow him any legal basis to do so). After approximately 2 years of detention in the same brig as Jose Padilla, he has filed a lawsuit against Donald Rumsfeld for:
"...unlawful and unconstitutional conditions of confinement
to which Plaintiff has been subjected by Defendants at the Consolidated Naval Brig (“the Brig”)
in North Charleston, South Carolina, since President Bush designated him an “enemy combatant” on June 23, 2003."

An unusual combination of charges had been filed against him including making a false statement to a bank and lying to the FBI. The FBI asked him if he had entered the US between 1991 and September 10, 2001 (exactly in that format see the original charges) and they claim that on October 2, 2001 he answered incorrectly.
2 phone calls were allegedly made from Al-marri's phone to Mustafa Ahmed al-Hawsawi: the FBI is charged him with making a false statement that he didn't make the calls.
There was also a laundry list of other charges.
Like Padilla, his was forced to fight a prolonged legal battle in two different venues. The original venue, in Illinois, was ruled incorrect after his transfer to the brig in South Carolina. The government had moved to dismiss all the charges against him, but they continue to hold him prisoner under inhumane conditions in solitary confinement in South Carolina.
The details of his saga can be read in chronological order in the original complaint. I've converted it to text for easy access at the following URL:

Al-marri was a returning student to Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois at the time of his arrest. he had a B.A. from there and returned with his family on September 10, 2001 for a Masters degree. He is a citizen of Qatar, and the embassies of Qatar and Saudi Arabia have hired attorneys to represent him. collegefreedom.org has posted the story of Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri's background along with further details about his case.
