Racial Stereotypes Dehumanize!
******************************
After 13 years of activism, the University of Illinois has yet to eliminate the racist and hurtful mascot "Chief Illiniwek". The decision making power of the U of I is centered on the University Board of Trustees. The Board is now frightened of the anti-"Chief" movement in Champaign. They have restructured their meeting schedule to avoid coming to Champaign for some time, which is a clear indication that they are not willing to face community opposition. Soon they will have no choice but to respond to the movement's demands, and ban the racist "chief". Victory is in sight! Come find out about the organizing efforts to ban the racist symbol of the
University of Illinois!
The Progressive Resource/Action Cooperative (PRC) is a multi-issue, multi-tactical activist organization committed to peace with social justice. We are students, faculty and community residents working to promote human rights, democracy, and self-determination for all people.
The PRC is a program of the Illinois Disciples Foundation.
