WEFT will be off the air until at least Friday. |
A power outage experience by some of Champaign on Tuesday caused a surge that damaged transmittter equipment. A part had to be flown to California for repair. Broadcast will be resumed at some point on Friday if all goes well.
In the mean time, if you have a computer you can listen to Democracy Now! from it's archive or you can listen to any number of interesting shows from the Pacifica website. You need a RealOne Player (TM) or something similar. When you go to their website don't be mislead into buying the for-pay-offer. Click instead on "free RealOne player." Then download basic free RealOne player.
This absense of WEFT makes me realized how much I would miss the station should it ever be absent from the airwaves for any length of time. Have you ever listened to Bob and Tom in the morning? YEECHH. Do everything you can to support WEFT and support locally produced media.
