On Tuesday, January 21, at 7 pm, there will be an attempt by citizens to convince the Champaign City Council to hold a study session on the Living Wage so that it can go before the council for a vote. We are encouraging people, especially but not limited to, those who live in Champaign, to appear before the council to support this effort. You need only state your name, address, and support for the study session
For those who have never been to one, access to the council chamber is on the north side of the Champaign City Building, around the corner from the main entrance on Neil St. Second. There is parking in the bank lot on the west side of Neil St.
Locally, Champaign County, Urbana, the CU Public Health District, and the Housing Authority of Champaign County have already adopted Living Wage policies.
We need a large show of support. Please come.
