Saturday night in downtown Urbana brought an array of about 150 people to the Indy Media Center to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the organization, attend the opening of the Middle Room Gallery's "Drawing Resistance Show", and hear some pop punk music. |

Saturday night in downtown Urbana brought an array of about 150 people to the Indy Media Center to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the organization, attend the opening of the Middle Room Gallery's "Drawing Resistance Show", and hear some pop punk music.
The event was also the kickoff of a membership drive, which has set a goal of 250 new members by Indy - pendence day, July 4, 2003. Danielle Chynoweth reports that she added 18 new members, 1 sustaining contributor and spoke with two people who wish to be contacted about the capital campaign. More than $1800 was raised.
A large part of the success for the evening goes to Jason Pitzl-Waters who promoted the event and, through his association with the Middle Room Gallery, arranged for the curators of the Drawing Resistance show to be on hand for the event. Jacquline Enstrom-Waters tended to infinite details including providing a wonderful assortment of foods. (some of which were donated by Strawberry Fields and Sweet Betsy).
Sascha Meinrath is reported to have provided to the event in preparation by cleaning the toilet.
Jennifer, from Seattle (and her dog) collected personal notes that attendees wrote to Resident Bush. She is walking across America collecting these grievances for redress. Her walk began in Seattle and has included stops at many IMCs.
Attendees were interviewed for the upcoming issues of the Public i and the IMC newshour (heard Monday's at 5:30 on WEFT 90.1FM). Tune in for a taste of the IMC... as it put its party hat on. |
