SATURDAY -- SOA 2002 Nov 16 2002 Speakers, Puppetistas -- Festivities Begin
Although the city-sanctioned police searched all of the attendees and the weather wavered between fair and cloudy, the crowd still maintained an optimistic mood. At the stage there were various speakers on a variety of Latin American issues. The IMC conducted interviews with two speakers in Spanish -- an Argentine Puppetista and an Argentine activist. Throughout the day, attendees recognized the Prisoners of Conscience that are currently incarcerated due to their actions at last year's demonstration. Midway through the day's events performers and puppetistas gathered to perform Argentine uprising theater.
9:30 AM -- Protesters are being searched in order to enter the designated 'protest area', and crosses more than 1/8 in. thick are not being allowed in.
8:30 AM -- Police have been harassing anyone wearing a bandanna on their face.
Check out videos and pictures of today's events.
Tune in / watch for live coverage and interview. |
