GREEN STATEWIDE SLATE FINISHES BETWEEN 3.9% AND 5.7% AND ALSO FINISHES AHEAD OF ALL OTHER CALIFORNIA SMALL PARTIES IN ALL STATEWIDE RACES

In previous elections, the highest percentage any statewide Green candidate received was 3.9% - Ralph Nader for President in 2000 and Margaret Garcia for Secretary of State in 1994. In 2002, all statewide candidates received at least 3.9%.

Peter Miguel Camejo, Governor
5.3%

Donna Warren. Lt. Governor
4.2%

Larry Shoup. Secretary of State
3.9%

Glen Mowrer, Attorney General
4.0%

Jeanne Marie Rosenmeier, State Treasurer
5.0%

Laura Wells Controller
5.8%

David Ishmael Sheidlower, Insurance Commissioner
3.9%

Peter Camejo's statewide 5.3% of the vote was the highest "third party" percentage for a California Governor contest against Democratic and Republican candidates in 67 years -- since 1934! (In 1978 Libertarian Party Governor candidate Ed Clark received 5.5% of the vote running as an "Independent", without having a party listing on the ballot). In San Francisco, Camejo received 15.9% of the vote, thereby beating the Republican (Bill Simon)! Other counties where Camejo exceeded 10% include: Mendocino, 16.3%; Sonoma, 13.1%; Santa Cruz, 12.3%; Marin, 12.1%; Humboldt, 11.9%; and Alameda, 11.1%.
