Some quick election news. This is just stuff I've gathered from various news sources (champaigncountyclerk.com and chicagotribune.com). By far not complete, just the things I cared about this morning. I'm sure a more complete summary and analysis is on the way. |

(670 out of 676 precincts reporting)
In Champaign county:

In my precinct (Cunningham 11):
Dem Joshua T. Hartke 138 47%
Rep Timothy V. Johnson 109 37%
IGR Carl Estabrook 49 17%
In Cunningham 10 Estabrook got 27% and took 2nd place.
Carl's numbers on every level are significantly higher than Nader's numbers in 2000. Analysis to come in the next few days.
Naomi Jakobsson beats Tom Berns 53% to 47%
Marisellis Brown gets 22,710 votes, about 1%. Probably the lowest dollars spent per vote of any candidate in any election this year.
Woah. Looks like McCollum and Winkel are in a dead heat with Winkel slightly ahead.
Nursing home got its bond issue and its tax increase. Interestingly more people supported the bond issue than the tax increase.
Democrats retain their Champaign County board majority. 16 to 11.
Shelden remains county clerk.
Democrats take over Illinois. Governor, Attourny General, Secretary of State, and Comptroller (all but Treasurer), control of IL Senate and IL House.
Durbin retains his senate seat. |
