WAG THE DOG SHOWN FREE TO PUBLIC WITH DISCUSSION TO FOLLOW
"Wag the Dog", the 1997 drama-comedy about how a White House manipulates the media, is being shown free of charge to the general public at the Channing-Murray Chapel at 4pm on Sunday November 17th. A discussion will follow the show. Michael Weissman, a physics professor at the U of I and local anti-war activist, will speak briefly to kick-off the discussion. Refreshments will be provided.
Channing-Murray Chapel is located at 1209 W. Oregon. It is on the corner of Oregon and Matthews on campus in Urbana.
"Wag the Dog", rated R (mostly for language and perhaps its politically sensitive message), is a critically-acclaimed motion picture starring Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman. They lead an ensemble cast in a movie that was directed by Barry Levinson and filmed in less that a month. The Humanism Discussion Group of the Urbana-Champaign Unitarian-Universalist Church is proud to sponsor this community event.
Everyone is welcome to attend. If you have questions or suggestions for additions to the evening's program, please contact Mark Morenz at marketype (at) yahoo.com. |
