The Midwest Worker Co-op and Collective Conference is now taking applications and has a info packet if you are interested. We need people to help organise in their local areas we can't reach. |
In Madison, WI this April there is going to be the Midwest Worker Co-op and Collective Conference. We are focusing on organisations and businesses that are strictly democratically run or wish to be so. Intentional communities, student co-ops, housing co-ops, info shops, grociery stores, resteraunts, etc.
We have a site at the Universtiy of Wisconsin in Madison and lodging will be provided. The price is going to very at this point. We will have some scholorships. We are basically organising east of the Rockies and west of the Appalacians. We need people to help organise in your own state and if you are interested in attending e-mail me or call me and I can send you more info and an application.
The ideas for this conference came out of a local Minneapolis coaltion of collectives and co-ops called the Minnesota Community Collective. Forming more than a year ago, we have made it our mission to create an alternative economy through cooperation and common sense. This is a major step to share the resourses of what is out there. The west coast and the east coast are both annually having conference alike to this one and there has been a proposal for a national federation of democratically run institutions.
