A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast quality (13.4MB) and quick download (3.3MB). With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast. China, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Russia, and Cuba. |
Germany,Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (October 25) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality 13.4MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (29:27) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired at 7pm PDST this Friday evening at KZYX/Z Philo CA and you should be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org/
There are several other streams that work quite well- http://members.cruzio.com/~frsc/ Freak Radio Santa Cruz streams this program on Friday at 5:35pm (PDST) and on Monday at 9amPDST.
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/
streaming the SWR at Fri 10:30PM/ Sat 10:30AM PM/ Sun 10:30AM PDST
and the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio
This week's show features stories from China Radio International, Radio Deutsche Welle, Spanish National Radio, Radio Netherlands, Voice Of Russia, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From China- Iran will not allow the US to use its bases against Iraq, and French Pres Chirac says war is not a solution. US/British planes bombed Iraq for the 3rd time in a week. Israeli PM Sharon says his country will retaliate if attacked with non-conventional weapons.
From Germany- King Abdullah of Jordan pointed out in Germany that the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is the core issue in the middle east, not the US/Iraq conflict. Columbia's FARC rebels want to do a prisoner exchange with the government.
From Spain- Columbia's government air forces bombed rebel vehicles over the weekend killing 70 FARC members. On Tuesday rebels retaliated with a car bomb in Bogata. Bagdhad said it was futile for the UN to adopt any resolution about an attack on Iraq, as the US was determined to go to war.
From Russia- Why has anti-American sentiment spread so widely recently, especially among Moslems? Unilateralism and selfishness were the reasons given in a current poll.
From Cuba- Geo Bush's own Methodist Church has launched a scathing attack on his preparations for war against Iraq. Bagdhad and Jordan are saying the US resolutions are virtual declarations of war.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
