This Tuesday, October 8, Danielle Chynoweth, co-founder of the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center and Urbana City Council Member will be giving a talk as part of the Know Your University series at the YMCA. |
This Tuesday, October 8, Danielle Chynoweth, co-founder of the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center and Urbana City Council Member will be giving a talk as part of the Know Your University series at the YMCA.
Her talk is entitled: "'Be Opinionated, Fair, and Accurate' : The Success of Independent Media." Since the WTO protests in Seattle, the Independent Media Movement has been gaining ground - covering major protests and world events with stories from the streets. Danielle look at the successes and challenges of the Indymedia Network as it struggles to counter the media monopoly by providing ordinary people access to media production. |
