YATTA, West Bank 9-17-02 - A bomb exploded in a Palestinian elementary school in the West Bank Tuesday, wounding five pupils, Palestinian officials and Israeli military sources said. |
|
There was no claim of responsibility for the blast in an area under full Israeli security control south of the West Bank city of Hebron. Israeli army radio quoted military sources as saying they suspected that Jewish terrorists were responsible.
Israeli police said they had no leads so far.
Manal Ishriteh, a municipal official in the town of Yatta where the school was located, said five children aged from five to eight years old were wounded when the bomb exploded near a bathroom during a break in classes. A Jewish terrorist group calling itself "the Zionist Infant Attackers" took responsibility for a schoolyard explosion in a Palestinian village on the outskirts of Jerusalem on March 5, 2002. |
