The Boy Bands of Aggressive Policy |
It occurred to your editor, as he lay in bed listening to the stentorian ministrations of Nominally Public Radio blandly describing a planned American invasion of a foreign land as a "regime change" and constitutional rights as "constitutional theories" that the Washington media has ever more in common with those mobs of teenage girls who stand in the pit screaming, cheering and sobbing as a boy band performs the precisely rehearsed sounds and steps of the corporate music business.
Is there no one in the press corps who does not find "regime change" a questionable synonym for gratuitous aggression? And if NPR blandly accepts normalcy of America blithely choosing the leaders of other countries and turning our rights into theories, then surely this is not entirely a rightwing plot. |
