A. news hour

2) paul k and peter m concerned about coordination of program
3) mark e.: what should be done?
4) Peter m.: unclear up until last minute
5) Danielle c: there was insufficient support to set up audio after people got back from Quebec
6) DC: 1-2 people per week plan to produce a show
7) Peter m: would like to work up the Quebec piece to a 30 minute piece; needs header and footer so it can be used in other venues
B. sevilla and ben covered the arrest of tim gibbs and laura anderson last week
1) submitted article to octopus, which was rejected
2) 4 audio clips on the Web site from people interviewed at arraignment
3) mark e: crystal marshall was also interviewed
4) peter m.: rapid reporting is important; nothing was posted for 18 hours
5) DC: all IMC reporters should be able to call in news as it develops
6) Molly: staff at IMC should be accessible to upload news
NEW STUFF
C. robert dunn: 85% coalition will be in springfield next week, needs documentation-- video camera; there will be civil disobedience; ACLU will be there; Every Wednesday for next 3 weeks meet at 10:30 at Art Theater
1) DC: suggests contacting Springfield people; Becca has a camera. Paul R: muckraking crew in Springfield?? He will find out contact and post to newgroup.
2) Hearing on House Bill 101 (anti-discrimination law for LBG); 2nd floor of capitol building 12noon
3) Sevilla: be aware of the rules of civil disobedience in Springfield
D. McVeigh coverage group
1) Will interview various factions
2) Need to get press passes, recording equipment; need another liaison (DC will offer her phone number)

E. molly: peotone demonstration against airport hub in peotone; opposition is because of potential for urban sprawl, pollution; STAND (shut this airport nightmare down); rally MAY 12 (molly will post time)
1) need audio coverage for interview, or phone interviews
2) peotone is off Hwy 57, south side of Chicago
3) DC: who\'s gonna take it? Molly: maybe??
4) mitra ghaboussi: friend who is a photographer on south side

F. naacp: citizen police review
1) Jon Wason and greens will speak briefly; has been trying to get in touch with DC
2) DC will go to Tuesday media to help get word out
3) DC: people who worked on racial climate survey may want to cover; Mark E. may want to cover
G. forming group to watch police?
1) Mark: went with Maria Silva to meet with people arrested outside of green st. mexican grocery
2) Contact: cleveland jefferson, tracy parsons; DC has made contact; peter m.: says that these two are speakers, but don\'t have an actual organization

H. human relations committee
1) Monday may 7 5:30 in champaign city ofcs
2) Wed 9 5:30 in urbana city ofcs
3) DC: tim & laura may speak here, not sure
I. sm: first racial dialog: tue 15, 7-9 millen administration bldg.
1) DC: this would make a nice news hour for 21st
2) Not open to public; only some people invited; we may need to ask for permission to record; sascha will do this
3) First group mtg sponsored by dolores henry; (she was demoted and may be fired by champaign school district)
J. bike lane
1) needs people who will work as organizers and consultants
2) needs more experienced people to help with audio production, contacting organizations for contributions
3) trying to broadcast mon and weds; 2-6 minutes each; different drop-ins
4) paul r. volunteered to consult
5) several orgs have been contacted but need to follow up
6) DC: record several each Saturday (or Tuesday when Paul is already here); audio person present to help process a batch
7) Morning menu drop-ins need not all be environmental
8) DC: Creating an audio template for bike lane drop-ins will make it easier to process
K. theme song music
1) voice-over of paul\'s band already being used
2) peter m: probably need a longer one for each programs in order to identify IMC
3) need music underneath the voice over of today\'s programs at beginning and credits at end

NEWS HOUR FOR COMING WEEKS
1) DC: we will not do tomorrow

3) May 21: ?????????????????????- DC suggests talking to Print Media people about efforts to start local print media; SM says we will know better who to ask with this after this meeting-- maybe Bob McChesney?; Evergreens is another idea; this would be a good time to do either McVeigh or 85%

1) DC: need a WEFT-IMC liaison; shouldn\'t be sevilla or mark (already on programming committee)
2) There needs to be a distiction b/t IMC business and IMC-WEFT business; too many people too many different questions, too much info
3) DC: needs to know who the liaison is; she\'s ok with serving in this function and she already essentially does it; Danielle will do it
1) producer-host-content roles need to be defined
2) try this and create a template to make it work
1) Peter proposes using some of the cash fund to get streaming audio and digital camera
2) Does new group approve for a 72 dpi?
3) 3-1/4\" floppy would allow easiest use
4) ??: get one with rechargeable battery plus an extra rechargeable battery
5) DC: camera fundraiser, just like for minidisc deck; but should go ahead and get it
6) PM: suggests going ahead and getting it; Peter m. will investigate an affordable one (under $200)
