I am looking for a Local folks interested in trying to convince the government that marijuana is harmless and in fact quite good!
This is such a sad time for humanity and the planet, We must rise up against the oppressive force governing us... |
Grass; an award winning documentary about the government's war on marijuana, directed by Ron Mann and narrated by hempster Woody Harrelson.
August 16 is the first anniversary of Illinois NORML's first meeting and also the 31st anniversary of the Cannabis Control Act. With your support, as one entity grows, the other will be repealed.
Thanks to the Onion and the Heartland Cafe for supporting us in what we're calling the 816 Celebration. The evening combines politics and music, as we'll be showing Grass from 9:30 to 11, followed by live music from Sara Stevens and the band Freeform Sessions.
You know you want prohibition to end, so come to the party and help a person suffering through a medical marijuana prosecution. Proceeds from the evening go to the legal defense fund of Brenda Kratovil, who is being prosecuted for marijuana cultivation by the Lake County State's Attorney. Brenda has a medical necessity defense and needs to win her case because pleading out to a felony probation, and the required drug testing, isn't an option for her. She suffers from glaucoma and multiple sclerosis and has been using marijuana as medicine for over 20 years. Her eye doctor marvels she can still see at all. The loss of her medicine means the loss of what little eyesight she has left.
We have a pdf. flyer available about the evening (it's the same copy as our ad in the Onion): send us a note and we'll forward the file, that way you can help get people to the celebration.
Order tickets online at IllinoisNORML.org or by calling 773-395-9708.
