Four out of ten likely voters think that lying about the reasons for going into Iraq would be grounds for impeaching Bush. |
Zogby America Poll. June 27-29, 2005. N=905 likely voters nationwide. MoE 3.3 (for all likely voters).
"Do you agree or disagree that if President Bush did not tell the truth about his reasons for going to war with Iraq, Congress should consider holding him accountable through impeachment?"

I find it amazing that for 50% of Americans, a president lying in order to involve the United States in aggressive war -- the same thing the Nazi and Japanese war crminals were charged with after WWII -- is NOT grounds for impeachment.
To consider the level of depravity such a refusal to be judgmental indicates, consider that a large percentage of this 50% is also likely to have answered "Agree" if asked the question, "If the president lied about oral sex, should he be impeached." This is yet another indication that TV, especially Fox News, is making many of us utterly stupid and incapable of credibly evaluating reality. |
