Clinton is a murderer... |
President Clinton and the Democratic members of Congress in 1995 could have prevented the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. Now they have the political brazenness to blame these attacks on President Bush when they were solely responsible seven years earlier.
In 1995 Philippine Police Chief Avelino Razon uncovered the plot, called "Operation Bojinka," to plant bombs in U.S. airliners and hijack others and crash them into buildings like the CIA headquarters. Raison said the plot was discovered on the computer of Ramzi Yousef, the organizer of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.
Yousef had fled to Pakistan, but his laptop was found in the apartment he shared with his accomplice, Abdul Hamin Murad. Razon said both were agents of Osama bin Laden. (Accuracy in Media Newsletter)
The Washington Post quoted a Filipino investigator who said that as he watched the attack on the World Trade Center on television, he exclaimed in horror, "It's Bojinka. Why didn't they pay attention?!"
Razon told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that after the Philippine intelligence report was compiled in 1995, it was passed on to the U.S. Embassy and the U.S. Joint Task Force on Terrorism. The Clinton FBI was in full possession of all the frightening facts on Bojinka but did nothing.
The FBI assured Congress that everything was under control when Dale L. Watson, Chief of International Terrorism Operations, said the FBI had identified 'a significant and growing organizational presence of foreign terrorists in the United States.' He swore the bureau had them under control. (See: Clinton Warned on Bin Laden Hijack-Kamikaze Plot.) There is no doubt the FBI would not withhold such important information from the president and told Clinton, just as President Bush was informed.
President Clinton was negligent when he did not insist that the FBI and other concerned agencies create plans to prevent such an attack from occurring. He was too concerned with Monica.
If this had been done in 1995, the Twin Towers attacks probably would never have happened, with 3,000 American lives lost and billions of dollars' worth of buildings destroyed. But Clinton was too busy with his sex exploits to pay proper attention to his job of protecting the United States from terrorists.
The Democrats must stop attempting to make Sept. 11 into a political issue. They must now work together with the Republicans on the best methods to protect the American people from terrorists. |

Just for the record, George W. Bush had been president nine months when the attacks of Sept. 11 occurred. Given what seems to be plenty of "sitting on on their hands" throughout the intelligence community, which remains the same whoever the president is, it's hard to argue against the idea that Bush must shoulder more of the repsonsibility for having failed to reform any alleged deficiencies leftover from the Clinton era.
Besides, the Bush team raced to closely embrace 9-11 politically by associating government response personally with the president. Now that being so personally close to the 9-11 issue is a political liability, it is not surprising that the supporters of this unelected president are rushing in the other direction by disclaiming Bush's personal responsibility.
This would be amusing if it were not one more example of the lack of character and leadership that infects our political system, with the two dominant parties trading places regularly at the helm of a ship of state hell-bent on advancing cpaitalism, no matter what the cost to the American people. By dint of the US making the world safe for capitalism, the world has become a very unsafe place for ordinary US citizens. |

Last I checked, the rumor was that as soon as Bush (literally) took office, he executed a direct turnaround from Clinton's policy and began exerting ZERO effort on the Mideast. I believe that he precipitated 9/11 with exactly this tack, by forcing Bin Laden, et al. into a major attention-getting gambit.
It's also interesting to note that Clinton had to mess with "Monica" because the Reps spent some major scratch forcing him to. Without this effort, "Monica" would have been no more than a suthrn boy defending his suthrn squeeze.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Army is now identified as having been in charge of the section of Enron responsible for illegal price fixing gambits against Cali. And we're still pretending that Republicans and Democrats are just two sides of the same coin? |
