As you probably already know, ISG voted on Wednesday to recommend retirement of Chief Illiniwek as our mascot. As a result of the meeting, ISG has decided to compile public comment regarding the decision and would like you to write to isg (at) uiuc.edu and make your feelings known on the
results of the vote, the impact of Chief Illiniwek, and reasons for eliminating the 'chief'.
These results will go to the Board of Trustees in a report and it is vital to have AS MUCH student input as possible. Your comments will make a difference during July's vote so please write to isg (at) uiuc.edu. In Friday's Daily Illini, Trustee Marge Sodemann said students' opinions will
be taken into account, and anything that happens will affect the decision.
So I beg of you make your voice known and write to ISG as soon as possible to end 75 years of institutional racism. |
