Tuesday March 19th @ IMC (218 W. Main in Urbana IL)
Matt Pond PA w/ Kait0, Everybody Uh Oh
NOTE: "EVERYBODY OH OH" HAS CANCELLED
- Matt Pond PA, fronted by Matt Pond (of course) is dreamy, spooky pop from Philadelphia, lusciously filled with acoustic and electric guitars, TWO cellos, and percussion. The group released an EP and two albums on Philadelphia's File 13 label before moving on to a brand new full-lenght on the uber-indie Polyvinyl Records label (which just relocated to Champaign). The band is on a full US tour and are coming off of a stellar performance at a SXSW showcase in Austin.
- KaitO plays cool, discordant girl pop tinged with an authentic mod flavor - authentic because they're from the U.K.! Their new album is infused with simple bass lines, soaring guitars, simple drumming, and lots of backing vocal effects, released on the California label Devil In the Woods late last year.
- Everybody Uh Oh are Champaign-Urbana's favorite new indie/pop darlings, infusing catchy pop songs with the crunch of classic Smashing Pumpkins and the quirkiness of a Neutral Milk Hotel side project. They've been hitting the stage hard over the past year, earning spots in both Chicago and Champaign supporting the likes of Beulah, Mates of State, Ted Leo, Q and Not U, Red Shirt Brigade, the Poster Children and a bunch more. They've got an album coming out this summer and will of course be playing the hits tonight.
With most of the students out of town we're expecting a smaller, more intimate show which should be amazing, given Matt Pond PA's propensity for completely disarming live sets. We hope to see you all there this evening,
and please bring a friend.
Eric
