mediageek is a new weekly radio show covering grassroots and independent media, airing Fridays 5:30 pm on WEFT 90.1 FM, following Free Speech Radio News. |
mediageek covers grassroots and independent media -- who's doing it, why do it, and how YOU can do it. mediageek grew out of Radio Free Conscience a 1/2 hour biweekly radio program that aired on WEFT from Sept. 1996 until March 2002.
mediageek is produced and hosted by Paul Riismandel, a long time WEFT volunteer, a media researcher and a founding member of the U-C IMC. On each program Paul reviews the week's communication news, pulling it out of the back pages of the business section and revealing it to be public interest news for citizens and citizen-media-makers. He also talks to people actively engaged in making their own media, changing our media environment, with the intent of changing our real political, social and natural environments.
mediageek airs 5:30 PM on community radio WEFT 90.1 FM (http://www.weftfm.org). Shows are also archived on-line at the mediageek website: http://www.mediageek.org. mediageek.org also keeps tabs on the indymedia and communications environment on a near-daily basis.
On the next edition of mediageek (March 22, 5:30 PM):
Communications researcher Amy Aidman will be a guest and discuss this Friday's protests at the Federal Communications Commission in Washington DC. |
