More cheese from Mickey Rat. Along with the hiring freeze and layoffs that Disney is poised to announce, the song and dance from the Disney recruiters is preety hard to swallow. It's a good thing there was an entertaining protest in Normal or the whole thing would've been hard to sit through. Now comes word (are we really surprised) that reinforces many recent reports that the Rat likes to exploit his worker mice. If you decide on a job there, watch out for the droppings... |
Employees of Walt Disney World have won the right to be paid for all the time they spend getting dressed as cartoon characters. The decision made by an industrial relations mediator means that countless former employees could be suing the company for back
pay.
It came in response to a complaint filed last year with the National Labor Relations Board by the Service Trades Council, which represents six unions at Disney World. The action claimed that in autumn 1999, Disney unfairly stopped paying workers for time spent changing into or out of a costume or uniform, and for the time spent wearing a uniform before they actually started performing.
About 3,000 Disney employees who work at Epcot, the Magic Kingdom and Fort Wilderness Lodge were involved in the action.
