Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (March 15) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.7MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.4MB) (30:00) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired at 7pm PST this Friday evening at KZYX/Z Philo CA and you MIGHT be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org/ This stream is often unreliable.
There are several other streams that work quite well- http://members.cruzio.com/~frsc/ Freak Radio Santa Cruz streams this program on Friday at 5:35pm and on Monday at 9am.
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/
streaming the SWR at Fri 9:30PM/ Sat 9:30AM PM/ Sun 9:30AM PST
This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, the Voice of Russia, China Radio International, Radio Deutsche Welle, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Netherlands- Tony Blair is supporting the US notion that Iraq is a threat to the world and actions must be taken- however there is much opposition in England as expressed here by a Palimentarian.
From Russia- a report on Dick Cheney's visit to Europe to drum up support for a joint intervention in Iraq. Is there a 2nd Desert Storm brewing? Russia and many other countries want the United Nations in charge of any such action.
From China- anti-government guerillas failed in an attempt to kill the Speaker of the Houise in Nepal; China is shocked by the news report that it is a US nuclear target with 6 other countries.
From Germany- a Euro Press Review from Tuesday covering the leaked news that the US has nuclear targets and mini-nukes; then a description of the scene in Ramallah on Wednesday, given by Linda Gradstein who often reports for NPR.
From Cuba- Physicians For Human Rights are charging that Israeli troops are deliberately opening fire on Palestinian ambulances and killing medical personnel; controversy is rising within the BBC on the coverage of the Zimbabwe election, which many say is driven by a colonial agenda; George Bush used "special powers" to install Otto Reich as head of the Lain American branch of the State Department; indigenous leaders from Ecquador are in the US fighting for a lawsuit against Chevron/Texaco for deliberately contaminating vast areas of Amazonian land.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station.
I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners)
are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. No Guilt!
