A 30 minute review of news and opinions recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast-13.2MB & quick/streaming-3.3MB. With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast upon notification. China, Netherlands, Germany, Cuba. |
Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (January 4) is up at the website
http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.2MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (28:57) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This week's show features stories from China Radio International, Radio Netherlands, Radio Deutsche Welle, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From China- Argentina's latest President will not repay the debts and criticizes free-market practices; Germany deploys ships to Somalia to help spread "Enduring Freedom" around; Arafat makes a New Years speech calling for an end to violence; the Gulf Cooperation Council issues support for Arafat and announces development of an economic union including single currency for the region.
From Netherlands- one of four citizens in the Netherlands contibutes to an environmental group; the US military launched a controversial attack in Eastern Afghanistan; a replay of a Nov 28th story on who's responsible for the anthrax attacks in the US.
From Germany- a special "year-in-review" program covering Africa and the Middle East conflicts.
From Cuba- a "year-in-review" program covering the US Presidential election, the revelation that Anthrax is still being produced in the US, the AIDs epidemic and Nigeria's rebellion against the pharmaceutical companies, and Venezvuala's Hugo Chavez.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station.
I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. No Guilt!
