New Young Adult Night Club deadicated to 18 19 20 year olds. All ages allowed inside because NO ALCOHOL and no cigerettes are sold. (Cops Raid Teen Club.) |
The Saturday before New Year Cops caught older adults drinking in the parking lot out back of the new young adult club located at 702 N. State st. in Westville , IL 61883. Cops came into the establishment and advised the owner he was responsible for people drinking in the parking lot behind the building. The owner advised the police chief of Westville that he wasn't a cop and wasn't going to do there job. Cops ran around through the teen club intemidating the young teens between 14 and 17. New Year Eve the countdown proceeded in a low attendance new year party. The balloon drop happened / everyone had fun popping all the balloons. The owner anounced that he wanted everyone to leave the nightclub/dance side of the building to go to the game room to wittness the raising of the American flag. The teens volintarally sang the national anthem. Chills is all I can say. It was perfect. Anyone of us would have been proud to call these teens our own children. The music was left off for 15 min. to give everyone a chance to call friends and family to wish them a happy newyear. Everyone was treated to free drinks. After 15 min. the music was started again for aprox. 45 min. at witch time the Westville / Belgium / auxillary police burst threw the door to threaten the person behind the bar with arrest threats. Curfew was the issue. All customers were carded searched and taken outside for breatilizer test. NO arrest were made. Young teen were tromitized like boot camp. Yelling at them to line up to be searched. The owner (Mahoney) was advised that if they ever found a under age child past curfew -Mahoney would be arrested. Teens are often dropped off by there parents then picked up later. The cops made all under age call there parents to come and get them. Two day's of harrasment may have ruined the only young adult club in the area. Next week will tell. The Westville cop in charge yelled out "If you would have just made this a bar none of this would be happening".This club is going by what is refered to as the A.P.M.P. (alcohol preventitive maintenance program) Gov. Ryan and Pres. Bush has been written in the past to let them know we are trying to teach young adults they can Dance and have fun WITHOUT alcohol. Aparently this pisses the cops off. Drunks keep them working. There will be noplace for peace in this smallville called Westville. |
