Do you visit this site on a regular basis and wonder where the local news is? |
Well, I'll tell ya where it is: you see it every day. You experience it happening. Why is it only news when someone tells you it is?
Indymedia is not simply about having a place to come and catch up on the news. It's a place for you to report the news. Tell your story and your experiences. Help others tell their's. Stop waiting around for someone to tell them for you.... because, most likely nobody will.
When lots of people take a few minutes to tell their stories and experiences, then a few postings that were spammed all over the IMC network, or that maybe contain more conspiracy theory than fact get drowned out by the real news that isn't going to be reported by anyone but you.
So, the next time you think "why don't THEY report on...." don't just think it, post it. Even if you can't do the whole story yourself, if you don't share the thought and idea, then nobody else can either.
Indymedia is not about being a better news consumer. It's about everyone being a news producer. |
