A 30 minute review of news and opinions recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast-13.7MB & quick/streaming-3.4MB. With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast upon notification. Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Spain, Cuba |
Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (December 14) is up at the website
http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.7MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.4MB) (29:55) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the
streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, Radio Deutsche Welle, the Voice of Russia, Spanish National Radio, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Netherlands- Kofi Annan warns the US to not extend the war on terrorism beyond Afghanistan; a report on the Marxist rebel groups in Columbia, and how they are viewed as terrorists since 9/11.
From Germany- the death toll rises in the war in Nepal; Amnesty International warns that human rights are being trampled in Afghanistan and the Western democracies in response to 9/11.
From Russia- Iraq has issued a call to the US to solve all conflicts through a dialogue; in the US gunmakers have issued special edition weapons commemorating 9/11, while gun sales soar.
From Spain- the European Union gives financial aid to Cuba to help after the hurricane, and Cuban Security Forces go after dissidents on Human Rights Day.
From Cuba- a Viewpoint on Congress giving Bush fast-track trade negotiation powers; Nigeria begins importing cheap copies of patented pharmaceuticals; Amnesty International calls for investigations into the mass killings in Mazar-i-Sharif; the anthrax mailed to US Congressional members is identical to the kind made in a military lab in Utah.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station.
I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated.
