A 30 minute review of news and opinions recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast-13.7MB & quick/streaming-3.4MB. With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast upon notification. China, Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Cuba. |
Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (December 7) is up at the website
http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcastquality (13.7MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.4MB) (29:59) It's
free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the
streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem
because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This week's show features stories from China Radio International, Radio Netherlands, Radio Deutsche Welle, the Voice of Russia, and Radio
Havana Cuba.
From China- China is calling for restraint in the
Israeli/Palestinian war; the Sec General of the Arab League warns Israel against attacking Arafat, while denying the "self-defense" claima issued by George Bush.
From Netherlands- in Columbia, the exploits of the right-wing paramilitaries are exposed in a new book by the former leader of the group; a UN Maritime Court rules that Britain can go ahead with expansion of its
nuclear-waste reprocessing plant, despite the
objections of Ireland.
From Germany- a report on solar power in Germany and developing countries from "Man & Environment."
From Russia- rumors of an upcoming US attack on Iraq are upsetting most nations; the US just carried out another test of the Missle Defense System, in opposition to the 1972 ABM Treaty; according to Pakistani newspapers, the US military death toll in Afghanistan is much higher than the US media is reporting.
From Cuba- many Afghan refugees arriving in Jahlalabad are reporting high numbers of civilian casualities; a Viewpoint on the just concluded arrangement for an interm government in Afghanistan; UN commissioner Mary Robinson issues a severe criticism of Israel's selective assassination of Palestinian activists, and the attacks on civilians.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station.
I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated.
