Iraqi Scientist Gives Talks in U-C |

A nuclear biochemist from Iraq and Dean of the College of Science for Women in Baghdad will be speaking at venues in Urbana and Champaign over four days on topics ranging from "Religion and Science" to the statuts of women in Iraq and consequences of the US war there. |

(Urbana-Champaign) College dean, chemistry professor, author, editor and social critic are among the hats Dr. Anis Al-Rawi wears in his native Iraq. His perspective is unique, and now he’s bringing it to our community in four appearances over four days at various venues in town.
· Tuesday April 12 at noon Dr. Al-Rawi will speak on “Iraqi Women: A Comprehensive Look” in the Foreign Language Building, Lucy Ellis Lounge, 707 South Matthews Street on the UIUC campus.
· Wednesday April 13 at 1:06 pm he will give a radio interview on WILL AM 580.
· Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 pm Dr. Al-Rawi will speak at the University YMCA, Latzer Hall, 1001 South Wright Street, on “The Consequences of War on Iraq”.
· Friday April 15 he will address the topic “Modern Science and Religion” at 7:45 pm at the Central Illinois Mosque and Islamic Center, 106 South Lincoln Avenue in Urbana.
Dr. Al-Rawi is Dean of the College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad in Iraq, professor of nuclear biochemistry and a distinguished author. He travels widely speaking on science and religion, the effect of war on Iraq -- in particular the effects of depleted uranium -- and on the status of women in Iraq.
