Drastic changes to cities, suburbia must occur if we are to maintain our quality of life and our environment. |
Here we are, some enjoy suburban living, while commuting to work every day. The only burr in their waxworks is fuel cost, and maintenance costs which are skyrocketing. When fuel cost cause these people to decide something must change, it may be too late!
We need to modify how we live to make our quality of life improve, limit crime and reduce expenditures for everyday life.
Over the long term, we shall have eventually gas rationing, then gas only available for the military and some elite. This sequence of events has occurred in previous settings in some other countries. One in particular we just attacked! They had all kinds of Oil, not much else.
My solution involves utilizing computers to extend all non-mechanical office functions to homes, therefore saving commuting time and costs.
Over time we should rebuild our cities to be non-street oriented. In fact, we can dump streets altogether. In place of streets we have park areas for homes to face onto. In the alleyway area behind the homes, a special low maintenance monorail system would provide door to door services. With this system, we rid ourselves of buried sewers, buried water piping, buried gas piping, overhead or buried electrical systems, parking problems, garbage problems.
America needs some manufacturing, albeit not heavy manufacturing. Our services industries are limited in scope, just how many people can be employment in Internet*, Medical*, Insurance, Police, Telecommunications*, Advertising? Those industries marked with the asterisk (*) required intense equipment supplies, sometimes very costly. Are we to allow the Japanese, Germans and Chinese to supply all this equipment? Right now, our balance of payments is heading for credit default. When that occurs all the service industries shall begin to fail!
High Tech manufacturing of electronics, sensors, specific software, robots, mono-rail components, maintenance improvement systems, new light weight travel systems, should all remain in the US.
Eliminating streets, shall limit access by criminals. They don't go where they cannot have a quick getaway.
Children would be safer, no busy streets to cross, bikes struck by cars, parking accidents.
Education: If children could learn their ABC's, to read and write over TV. Why cannot these programs be available over a computer? In fact, it seems children actually learn to type and read just so they can instant-chat with friends!
Mathematics, Languages, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mechanics may all be taught in theory via a computer! In fact that is the answer to mass education, It removes the problems with race, blight, and concentration!
Our farming areas would remain the somewhat the same, except the monorail would extend to the farms to allow delivery of produce and supplies. If fact, efficiency would be improved if we keep the farmers from sitting in line at the elevators! They simply unload at the monorail!
Electricity would be produced by combinations of heat-engine systems, using sunlight, biomass, and consumption of garbage and process-by product to generate electricity from heat 24/7. In addition, with some mechanical improvement, wind and thermal towers could be utilized to supply electrical energy, also.
Theres more. I'll provide updates as I have time. |

Where is our editor -in -chief, dearest ML? Or he thinks that if comments are in foreign language then they ARE ALWAYS on topic, though it might be the very offensive or even worse statement (s). I think that to leave such, at the best very irrelevant comment unhidden, is the disrespect to the author of this article. Am I right? |

My Wife, who knows Russian, told me that this comment above is the advertisement of web services to print digital photos. Ridiculously, this advertisement DOESN'T include the advertised web coordinates. So, it is the obvious spam ! I really suggest that in the future editors would block postings, which meanings they can't understand ! |

No matter which party is at fault, I'm a devout independent myself. What I'm offering is Global in stature no matter which continent or political power exists. It is above and beyond any political consideration. |
