Now that children are being exposed to censorship in the schools, first of all in Champaign, people might want to find out more about the clay feet that accompany the concept that people need to be protected against spomething they might read or see. |
The Censorware Project's website is an extensive resource for all the inside information about how those who fancy themselves to be the local Big Brothers go about their dirty work of keeping the truth under their control. While often using the excuse of protecting children from porn and subversive literature, internet filtering technology tends to amount to nothing more than a sanitized, commercialized version of corporate America's view of life. While such sites as the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center try to bring a diversity of opinions to the public, the 'net censors seek to bring you the narrowest version of what is really going in the world around you. |
