The Ladies and Laddies Against War held another successful
rally today at the intersection of Prospect and I-74 in Champaign.
The Ladies and Laddies Against War are a group of local people who oppose the U.S.'s bombing campaign against Afghanistan and want to disprove the media's assumption of American "unity" behind the government's violent reaction to the September 11th attacks. They meet every day of the week at noon, on the corner of Race and Elm on everyday except Thursdays, when they meet at Prospect and I-74.
Despite rain and wind, about 15 people attended the demonstration. They held signs, greeted passing motorists, and distributed flyers which explain that if the bombing campaign doesn't stop at least long enough for aid groups to enter Afghanistan with food and medical supplies, about 7 million Afghani civilians will starve in the coming months.
Many drivers honked and waved in support as they drove by.
