Theory of Everything formed in the spring of 2003 when IMC member Darrin Drda met multi-instrumentalist David Tcheng at an IMC open mic hosted by the former. Soon thereafter they teamed up with local songwriter and musician extroardinaire Paul Kotheimer on bass and percussionist Sean Kutzko to record their self-titled debut CD, released in December 2003.
Since that time, TOE has switched to drummer Kevin Colravy (formerly of Lorenzo Goetz) and morphed from an eclectic folk outfit into something more like a rock band, albeit one that still uses unconventional instrumentation and a good groove to get their point across.
TOE's latest CD, 'Evolution of the 'Art, is a fiesty, funky collection of songs with a decidedly political theme. It includes an anti-car punkabilly song (Deathmobile), a peace-pop anthem (Operation: Love), an all-purpose political disco song (Never Gonna Buy It), a toe-tapping singalong (Hug a Republican), and seven other musical goodies.
'Evolution of the 'Art is now available for purchase at the UC-IMC in Urbana, at CV Lloyd music in downtown Champaign, and at Border's.
