Action needed to save Indiana State Forests |
ACTION ALERT * INDIANA STATE FORESTS * ACTION ALERT * INDIANA STATE FORESTS
Thanks to the beauty of the autumn colors and to the passion, sacrifice and endurance displayed by the activists 6-1/2 month tree-sit, peoples attentions are returning to the public forests of Indiana. May these gifts
of the earth inspire you to action in its defense.
We must sieze this moment to make our voices heard in support of healthy, natural state forests as a critical piece in protecting the ecological fabric of our communities. In the words of House majority leader Mark
Kruzan: "What's radical is needlessly cutting down trees in our state forests when they only account for about 1 percent of the total timber harvest in Indiana."
PLEASE MAKE 2 CALLS RIGHT NOW!
1. SUPPORT THE YELLOWWOOD TREE-SIT:
Your support is urgently needed as the tree-sitters face the prospect of a cold winter! Call Yellowwood Property Manager Jim Allen at: 812-988-7945 Ask him to protect the land and the tree-sitters by cancelling the Dubois
Ridge timber sale and to stop logging Yellowwood!
2. SUPPORT THE STATE LEGISLATION TO END COMMERCIAL LOGGING ON STATE FORESTS:
Call your state representative FREE at 1-800-382-9842
Ask them to "support legislation to end commercial logging on Indiana state
forests."
Important: If your Rep. is Mark Kruzan, please call and THANK him for his
leadership in this effort.
