LAGAW Draws Support from Shoppers
Ladies and Gentlemen Against the War (LAGAW) met today at I-74 and Prospect to provoke a dialog about U.S. bombings of Afganistan. Thirty demonstrators created a curved stream of multicolored banners proclaiming "No War", "Who Benefits?", "Eye for an Eye Makes us Blind", "This Aggression Will Not Stand"…., Most of the motorists entering and leaving I-74 at Prospect ignored us, while others greeted well wishing demonstrators with peaceful gestures. A number of others, some in trucks, yelled out swear words, gave the finger, and endorsed patriotic slogans. One demonstrator counted about 100 positive responses and 50 negative responses. Demonstrators raised issues which question the administration’s policy, enjoyed each others company and traded debating tactics. A Channel 4 camera person interviewed participants and videotaped shots of the action. A similar action may happen next week. This action happened 10.11.01 from noon to one. |
