This week's show features stories from China Radio International, Radio Netherlands, the Voice of Russia, Spanish National Radio, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From CHINA- UN Sec General Kofi Annan has no intention of resigning and plans to implement sweeping changes at the UN. 2 French reporters who were hostages in Iraq were freed because of France's anti-war stance. A new poll in the US shows a solid majority of Americans believe that the war on Iraq is a mistake and that Rumsfeld should lose his job as Defense Secretary.
From NETHERLANDS- An analysis of George Bush's ascension to Time magazine’s Person of the year. Settlers in the Gaza Strip have been wearing orange stars of David in protest of their alleged removal- an analysis by an Israeli peace activist.
From RUSSIA- A commentary on the West's involvement in the politics
of Ukraine, with the possibility of breaking the country into several smaller parts.
From SPAIN- The UN hearing on climate change held in Argentina ended with few positive results. Colombian rebels have rejected as blackmail a government threat to extradite one of their leaders to the US. Carlos Mennen, former Argentine President, returned to Argentina to attempt a political comeback.
From CUBA- Thousands of Cuban high school students protested Christmas decorations at the US embassy building which had references to 75 political prisoners in Cuba. Then a Viewpoint on the possibilities of justice in Chile, where Pinochet was ordered again to stand trial for his role in the murderous policy called Operation Condor.
      All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm (PST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org
There are several other streams that work better-  http://www.freakradio.org  Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am (PST)
