The 2nd Annual SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS CARAVAN departs on DECEMBER 1, 2004 to travel throught Central America to help promote sustainable initiatives. |
San Francisco, CA - The SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS CARAVAN will be departing from CELL SPACE, San Francisco, to embark on yet another amazing journey to promote sustainable solutions throughout Central America.
Running entirely on used, straight vegetable oil (SVO), the SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS CARAVAN (a 1972 diesel Carpenter school bus) , carrying a team of sustainability experts, eco-technologists, farmers, performance and media artists, will travel through CALIFORNIA, MEXICO, GUATEMALA, EL SALVADOR, HONDURAS, NICARAGUA, and COSTA RICA to meet with the Ministries of Agriculture and other governmental agencies to discuss ways of supporting and expanding sustainable farming practices in their respective countries. The SSC team will also be demonstrating diesel to veggie oil conversions to local farmers (especially native campesinos) while connecting them to organic food distributors, thereby providing economic incentive and technical help for farmers to transition to organic. Events and press conferences will be held at several locations along the SSC route to promote sustainable initiatives and help create a network of people, projects, and organizations involved in all aspects of sustainable living solutions throughout neo-tropical Central America.
Join them on December 1, 2004 at 2pm to help spread the word that yes, another world is possible and necessary. They need as much support and love as they can get to help make this trip as magical and effective as they envision it to be.
"With a simple conversion, any diesel engine can be fueled in this way. It's even possible to use oil that has already been cooked with, which is a waste product that many restaurants like McDonald's pay to dispose of." - Stephen Brooks, Founder of the Sustainable Solutions Caravan, the Punta Mona Center of Sustainable Living and Education, and the Costa Rican Adventures tour company
* The SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS CARAVAN, founded in 2003 to promote sustainability throughout the Americas, focusing on the use of renewable energies, organic farming, and sustainable lifestyles, is fiscally sponsored by SEE, a 501(c)3 organization. |
