Fight consumerism, corporate greed, and drop out of the capitalistic system! Buy nothing on November 26th. Buy no gifts, no stuff, nothing. Participate in a global exercise in living more simply and reducing our materialism. |

For 24 hours, millions of people around the world do not participate -- in the doomsday economy, the marketing mind-games, and the frantic consumer-binge that's become our culture. We pause. We make a small choice not to shop. We shrink our footprint and gain some calm. Together we say to Exxon, Nike, Coke and the rest: enough is enough. And we help build this movement to rethink our unsustainable course.
In its 13 years, BND has become a flashpoint, a day when people of all stripes come together in symbolic protest. Visit the new BND Action Pyramid for a sample of great ways to celebrate. |

It seems so ridiculous to get up even before dawn on "Black Friday" to buy things. If people are worried about the new hot items running out, why didn't they buy them BEFORE Thanksgiving?
The store employees need the day off, too. So let's decide we won't buy things that early and declare a "Buy Nothing Day." There is still plenty of ime to Christmas shop if yu must. Otherwise, try to have a noncommercial Christmas! |
