The Motorola set-top box provided by Insight cable consumes 30W of power even when it's turned "off". Its power consumption when displaying programming is only about 5W more.
That's comparable to the power consumption of a small refrigerator.
When the box is unplugged, it loses the program guide and user settings, which are restored from the network when it's plugged back in, a process that takes several minutes. |
