IDF Annual Fall Dinner
Featuring Keynote Speaker Bill Davis
"Veterans Fighting in the Workplace and in Iraq"
Saturday, November 6th
Doors open at 5:30pm
Wisegarver Lounge (1st Floor of IDF)**

***************************

The IDF is a pioneering campus ministry with the mission of peace with social justice. In addition to staff-organized events, the IDF offers several programs including the Common Ground Food Cooperative, the Progressive Resource/Action Cooperative (PRC), the Activist Forum, Uprising and the Women‚s Direct Action Collective. Since its inception in 1905 the IDF has been at the forefront of many peace with justice struggles including the civil rights movement, the struggle against the Vietnam War, the fight for the Equal Rights Amendment, and the Sanctuary movement.

Bill Davis, the keynote speaker, has a long history of both labor and anti-war organizing. He is a national coordinator of Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW), a national organization started in 1967 to fight for peace, justice, and the rights of all veterans. Davis is also the president of Auto Mechanics Union Local 701. He has been a member of Local 701 since 1977. He also is a representative for Local 701 for the Chicago Federation of Labor.

The all-vegan menu will feature creamy fall pasta with butternut squash, roasted fennel, red pepper and potato tiella, carrot, kohlrabi, and turnip salad, and tomato basil cream soup with rice. Dessert will also be served and will include apple crisp. During the dinner, Triskelion will provide background music. Triskelion, a trio of traditional Irish musicians, includes Lisa Boucher on fiddle, Dean Karres on tin whistle and bodhran, and Dan Niven on bouzouki, guitar, and banjo.

This event is cosponsored by: Activist Forum, the Anti-War Anti-Racism Effort (AWARE), El Centro por los Trabajadores, Feminist Majority, the Champaign County Health Care Consumers (CCHCC), the Common Ground Food Co-operative, the Muslim Student Association, the student chapter of NAACP, the Progressive Resource/Action Cooperative (PRC), U-C Friends Meeting, Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW), and the Women's Direct Action Collective.

Dinner tickets are $8-15 on a sliding scale. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Tickets are available at the IDF office, which is open Monday through Friday from 12noon to 5pm, and at the door. We would greatly appreciate tickets to be purchased or reserved in advance.

The money raised at this event will go to the Illinois Disciples Foundation to further our peace with justice mission.

**The IDF is located at the NW corner of Springfield and Wright St. in Champaign. Wisegarver Lounge is located on the first floor of the building and is wheelchair accessible.
