On today's program we have a talk with Brooke Anderson of the Champaign County Health Care Consumers about Emergency Contraception. We also will hear from Rob Scott about Ecological Construction and the School for Designing a Society.
But first these Headlines.
Saturday Oct 23 Two marches joined together in the rain outside the Champaign Police Station in support of a just community for all. One group walked from douglas park and the other from scott park in a symbolic action of unity.
There was also a picket saterday outside WICD Channel 15 to protest partisan actions taken by Sinclair Broadcasting to preempt programming to air an Anti-Kerry film. Sinclair is owned by 4 brothers that are staunch republican supporters.
The Illinois Disciples Foundation will host the IDF Annual Fall Dinner Saterday November 6th. Bill Davis, the National coordinator of Vietnam Veterans Against the War will speak about "Veterans Fighting the War in the Workplace and in Iraq."

In a recent development concerning the detention of RNC protesters
The National Layers Guild is moving ahead with a civil lawsuit on behalf of those people arrested at republican national convention. The NLG has said that many of the people arrested were victims of civil rights violations including, excessive detention, denial of access to medications and denial of access to attorneys.
It is suggested that anyone who was arrested at the demonstrations contact the National Lawyers Guild in NY city or visit their web site at www.nlgnyc.org

Scott Edwards has brought to our attention on the IMC News feed that
Human rights watch said last week that the Peoples Armed Forces of Congo have tortured 24 people and killed six of them. The civilians were accused of killing two soldiers and then brought to a military camp where they were beaten with wooden sticks in an underground prison. Two of the detainees were executed and four died later of their injuries. The rest were released after a local chief paid off the soldiers.
The BBC has reported that Papa Wemba is facing 10 years imprisonment and a 750 000 euro fine for purchasing visas for congolese nationals. Papa Wemba is an african singer of the griot tradition and is one of the worlds most famous musicians. France has charged him with illegal immigration.
