Indymedia Sites Vanish |

A number of Independent Media Centers have been removed from the Web. |
As of 2 pm EST September 19, Indymedia's main site was inaccessible. Also inaccessible were the Indymedia sites affiliated with Seattle, Washington DC, Prague, Boston, Italy, Belgium, France, Sydney, New York City, Vermont, Sweden, Minneapolis/St.Paul, Atlanta, Madison, New Jersey, Calgary, Gainesville, Rocky Mountain, and Barcelona. Other Indymedia sites may also have been removed.
Indymedia sites still accessible include Philadelphia, LA, Israel, Champaign-Urbana, Chiapas, Ohio Valley, Utah, Vancouver, St. Louis, and Buffalo. |

Overload and A New Virus |

IMC sites have been experiencing massive overloads of traffic since Sept. 11. Compounded by the new virus that was on the loose yesterday, they have probably been having these troubles on and off. As of 3:30pm CT, the main IMC is back up. Also, most IMCs are actually hosted on the Seattle IMC servers. Urbana-Champaign IMC is one of the few that has its own server, so that is why we're up and working when most of the rest are down. |
