This is a Salem song, Have We Got Room, which In The Pocket Productions is trying to spread throughout the country as an election anthem. It features a loop Todd Anders Johnson created from a Beethoven Symphony, Todd's live drums, percussion and vocals, and bass playing by Milo Matthews. |

it’s about time to start talking about the kingdoms
from where the rhythms come, thy will be done
I speak of Africa with my own goddamn tongue
and you know damn well that I ain’t the only one
as of yet there ain’t no local reparations
despite deliberations for decent educations
even though Mandela got his emancipation
the country’s still in the throes of neo-colonization
who can say there’s been a true realization
of the magnitude, of the desperation
to throw back corporate arms of exploitation
while politicians vow to sell out entire nations
have we got room for one more president
have we got room for a bit of understanding
when imprisoned ones using all they can
sendin a voice out to all the land
opportunities dryin up faster than lake chad
tryin to get back to what was once had
circumstances are changing but the same holds true
the conditions of all people’s got to mean something to you
to my brothers and sisters strong
to the others far from their homes
to the mothers seein all that’s wrong
to the fighters their distant song
like a cloud I’m gonna come over to ya
like a cloud I’m gonna bead up and wet ya
the sun’s light manifests color to my face
our incense together will rise with the heat of this place
have we got room for one more president
have we got room for a bit of understanding
when imprisoned ones using all they can
sendin a voice out to all the land
we got praises, we got love
not necessarily from above
been finding ourselves in situations we might never have thought of
crossing boundaries, finding unity
there is valid fear of the organized being you and me
we won’t accept approximations
we won’t accept impersonations
we can resist the power structure on this station
flip the switch alternatives changin up your delegation
have we got room for one more president
have we got room for a bit of understanding
when imprisoned ones using all they can
sendin a voice out to all the land |
